“In this session Aviva is joined by Dr. James White, Dr. Eugene Turner and Virginia McLean president of Friends for our Riverfront in Memphis TN. They begin the discussion with the recent typhoon in the Philippines and the fact that its cause cannot necessarily be pinpointed to just factor, such as human activity. They discuss the possibility of quantifying the space that could be used to re-green the earth and what forms that re-greening might take. Virginia describes folks in Memphis whose major concerns are getting food on the table, which sparks a discussion about the fact that humans must have their basic needs met before they can concentrate on things like solving climate change. Therefore, it’s so important that people in positions of relative privilege must keep working on finding ways to solve these issues
